As a school/centre we are small and friendly and that’s the way we like to keep it. We pride ourselves on our personal service and go out of our way to ensure that everyone's experience is an enjoyable one.   Many of our customers come back for more than one visit and we are proud to say that many have also become good friends. SailSports Belize was established in April 1999 by Chris Beaumont and Jo Sayer.

We both had proper jobs before we gave up the rat race and followed one of our dreams. Following a degree in mechanical engineering, Chris spent some years working as an engineer in UK and the US. Whilst in the states he met up with Lyndon, a belizean, who persuaded him to come to Belize and once there he fell in love with the place. He gave up the engineering, spent a year training to be a qualified Yacht captain as well as a windsurfing, sailing and kiting instructor.

Jo’s training was in literature and art. She worked as an Advertising Producer in London for several years, then decided on a complete career/life change and trained to be a windsurfing and sailing instructor. She met Chris in Barbados whilst on the same course and together they came to Belize the following year to set up the company.

In the years since we opened Sailsports lots has happened including getting married and adopting a baby boy. Jo now spends most of her time between Noah, Surf Guru her new clothing shop and Tropic air where she is the advertising co-ordinator. Chris still spends most of his time on or around the water, so come and say hello.

Junior
Junior originally from the mainland. He loves being in the water, if he has a minute spare you'll find him on the water.He can help you with anything you need from hints, tips and lessons to the hottest spots in town.

Gabriel aka Cookie
Another mainland recruit, and Juniors cousin. Loves to joke around although he tries to look serious. Just recently getting into his watersports, joined in the races for the first time in Feb. Always ready with a sail or board change and will keep an eye out for you while you are on the water..

Boots
Boots is the resident mutt. A Heinz 57 breed. In spite of the fact that she hates the water she is always hanging out under the SailSports palapa after she adopted us 5 years ago.
