What
to do when the wind doesn’t blow.
Ambergris Caye and
Belize have a huge diversity of activities. We can organize any trip
or tour
as part of your total
package price or you can wait until you get here and see what you fancy.
Here is a selection of things to do:
Diving
AC is lucky to have the 2nd longest barrier reef in the world on its
doorstep. There are 100 of local dive sites just 15-30 minutes away.
We are closely
connected with Bottom Time, one of the best dive shops on the island
and we would recommend Rudy as your dive master. If you haven't tried
diving
before, the dive shop offers open water certification with Mr. Sylvan,
one of the first PADI dive instructors on the island. For the more
advanced divers there are trips to the outer atolls of Belize such
as Turneffe
and
the Elbow, fantastic wall dives with abundant fish life. The famous
Blue hole is also a must for the fanatic.
Snorkeling
The snorkeling here is spectacular. You cant really go straight off
the beach the best way to snorkel is to either take one of our kayaks
or sailboats
and snorkel close to the reef or we recommend taking an afternoon trip
to Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray alley. Mexico Rocks and Bacalar
Chico
are other great snorkeling spots.
Parasailing
See the wonders of the reef from the air.
Bird watching
Belize has 100s of species of birds. On this half day trip you will
visit 2 bird sanctuaries at Cayo Rosario and Little Guana Caye.
Amongst the many
exotic bird you will see Spoonbills and Pink Ibis, as well as pelicans
and frigates.
Manatee Tour
A day boat trip to the drowned Cayes takes you to see the west
indian manatee in its natural habitat. Although you wont be allowed
to snorkel with these
creatures the trip offers other snorkeling stops and a visit to Goffs
Caye.
Fishing
Whether its deep sea, reef or fly fishing, Belize will send you reeling.
Marlin, permit, bone, tarpon, barracuda, tuna, snapper and more.
Mayan Ruins
Belize is blessed with several spectacular examples of mayan settlements. The
most popular ones are Altun Ha and Lamanai. Both these can be visited
on day trips via plane or boat. In nearby Guatemala lies the fantastic
site
of Tikal. If you are really in to mayan ruins , this is the one to see.
Tropic Air offer day and overnight trips from San Pedro.
Mainland Adventures
Mainland Belize with its pristine jungles and many rivers offers the
adventurous traveller a wealth of activities including cave tubing,
white water rafting,
rappelling, jaguar spotting, jungle walks, horseback riding, medicine
trails, to name but a few.
